I’ve photographed two weddings at Beuld, one in spring and one in summer, and it’s one of those venues that just feels… easy. Everything is well thought out. The owners, Riaan and Braam, are also part of what makes the place feel so welcoming. They often joke that the only thing at the venue that isn’t straight is them, and that sums up the vibe nicely. Beuld is sleek and structured, but the energy is relaxed, warm, and human.
And then you’ve got Robertson doing what it does best. The mountain backdrop gives the venue a sense of place without the day ever feeling “styled” or themed. It’s just naturally beautiful.
The ceremony space
The ceremony space at Beuld is outdoors, set in a rose garden, and it’s a standout. It feels intentional and intimate, especially for smaller weddings. You’re surrounded by greenery and blooms, with the mountains sitting quietly in the background.
From a photography point of view, it’s also a lovely space because it feels open and airy. Guests aren’t squeezed in. Couples have room to breathe. And when you feel comfortable during your ceremony, your photos reflect that.

One of my favourite things about Beuld is that you don’t need a long portrait session to get a beautiful gallery. There are great backdrops close together, so we can keep portraits short and calm, then get you back to your people.

Golden hour here is beautiful. If your timeline allows for even 10 minutes before sunset, the mountains and soft light do their thing.

And if not everyone stays on-site, there are also places to stay in Robertson, with a shuttle service option. That’s such a stress reducer because nobody has to worry about driving, logistics, or being the responsible one.
It keeps the celebration feeling connected. People can actually enjoy the evening, and you don’t get that early drop-off where half the guests leave because transport feels complicated.

Food worth talking about (Ragazzi Restaurant)
The food at Beuld deserves its own mention. It’s genuinely stunning, and it’s usually done by Ragazzi Restaurant. Both weddings I photographed there had guests talking about the meal long after it was finished, and that always tells you something.
Great food changes the energy of a wedding. People relax, they settle in, they enjoy themselves. And that creates better moments, better atmosphere, and better photos.
